What is Perceptle?

Perceptle is a free daily perception game you play in your browser. Every day brings one round of five quick tests — Count, Track, Angle, Tempo and Split — that ask your eyes, ears and sense of timing to judge things without a ruler, a clock or a calculator. Each test takes a few seconds, a whole round takes about two minutes, and you finish with one score out of 100 to compare with friends.

Why people play it every day

  • One shared puzzle: everyone gets the same five tests on the same day, so scores are directly comparable.
  • Quick: a full round fits into a coffee break.
  • Free, no sign-up: open the page and play. Your streak and stats stay in your browser.
  • Made for phones: the board fills a phone held upright, and every handle is big enough for a thumb.
  • A Friday twist: on Fridays every test gets a harder variation.

How to play

  1. Press Play. Each test opens with a one-line instruction and a Ready button.
  2. Answer on instinct: type a number, tap a spot, drag a line or tap a beat.
  3. See the truth. After each answer the board shows the correct answer, how far off you were and your points.
  4. Get your score. The five results average into a score out of 100 and a grade from S to F.
  5. Share it, then come back tomorrow — a new set arrives at midnight UTC.

The five tests

Count

Between 45 and 85 dots flash for two seconds. Estimate how many you saw. Your miss is measured against the true count, so being five off on 80 dots costs less than five off on 50.

Track

A ball is thrown in an arc and vanishes partway through its flight. Tap the spot on the ground where it will land — your feel for physics does the work.

Angle

Swing a line to a target such as 137°, measured counterclockwise from a dashed baseline. A slightly tilted frame in the background tries to throw you off.

Tempo

Tap along with four clicks somewhere between 75 and 130 beats per minute, then hold the beat alone for eight more taps. The delay of your speaker and screen is measured from your first taps and taken out.

Split

Mark the point a given fraction or percentage of the way along a line, like 3/7 from the left end or 35% from the right.

Today and yesterday

Today is Perceptle #1, Saturday, October 17, 2026 (UTC). Everyone playing today gets the same five tests.

Questions

Is Perceptle free?
Yes. There is no paywall and no account. Your results are stored only in your own browser.
When does a new puzzle come out?
Every day at 00:00 UTC. The countdown under your result shows exactly how long is left.
How is my score calculated?
Each test turns your error into 0–100 points on a smooth curve: a perfect answer earns 100, and points fall away faster the further off you are. Your daily score is the average of the five. The full rules explain each test in detail.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes — Perceptle was designed for phones first. Turn your sound on (and silent mode off) for Tempo.
What happens if I leave in the middle?
Finished tests are saved. The test you were in the middle of restarts with a fresh puzzle, so nobody can peek and try again.
Can I play more than once a day?
Yes. After the daily round, press Play again for as many extra rounds as you like, each with five brand-new puzzles. Only your first round counts as your score for the day, your streak and your stats.
Is this the same game as perceptle.com?
No. Perceptle.app is an independent game built around the same five-test format as the original Perceptle at perceptle.com, with its own puzzles, design and features. Puzzle numbers count from our own launch day, and the puzzles themselves differ.
Is this a medical or eye test?
No. Perceptle is a game. Scores depend on your screen, your device and how awake you are, and say nothing about your health.
